If the treatment is done more than once, it is a permanent solution. Incredibly shiny, straightened hair can be expected until the straight hair is cut away. The hair will, of course, grow back in its natural state and texture. So the maintenance required is when you see the curly roots and want to straighten them again. This is a perfect process when you DO NOT have color-treated, blond hair. It can alter blond shades, and so Brazilian Keratin is a better choice for those clients. A test strand can be performed for free. Meeting rigorous OSHA and FDA standards, Agave Smoothing is one of the safest and most effective treatments available today. A mask is required and will be provided. BRAZILIAN KERATIN INFO: BK can straighten almost any hair type with no chemicals, zero damage or change to the hair color. It is superior to Japanese or lye straightening since those use chemicals that can break the hair and can make the hair lay too flat to the head. Brazilian Keratin protein will bond to the hair through the use of a flat iron. It stays in your hair for 3-6 months (or more if done often) The new growth and the ends, therefore, need to be maintained. Your natural hair texture will come back when it washes off. Even if your hair is color treated and heavily highlighted it will work and even fortifies weakened hair making it stronger and lay better. Clients who have BK done swear by it and say they don't even have to blow dry their hair daily any longer. Once you get the keratin done you can't live without it since it's such a time saver and is affordable. COST for either Agave or Brazilian Keratin: Price: $60/hr plus $50 for product. If more product than the average 2 ounces is needed, an additional $20 each ounce is added. Average time is 2 hours. $60x2 + $40 = $160 Most clients with shoulder length hair takes 2 hours. The price will vary depending on length and thickness of your hair. Most are (short) $160-$200 (long) range. KERATIN MAINTENANCE : All you need is shampoo that does not contain Sodium Chloride (salt) or Sulfates and you are set for months. REGARDING FORMALDEHYDE /SAFETY: The problem with the claims that some products do not have formaldehyde are false claims and were pulled from the shelves for repackaging. That is because they say "formaldehyde free". I use Marcia Teixteira that is the first patented keratin product in the US, and I am certified by the company. They do not FALSELY CLAIM to be formaldehyde-free but have a formula that IS. However, it DOES NOT LAST 3 months and is available upon request. The most important thing when doing a Keratin Treatment is to mask-up (wear a mask). Additionally, most hair stylists do not have the choice or flexibility that I have available to open the windows. I take great measures to keep any smoke/fumes during the process away from you as the client and myself. I am able to open the room up to the outdoors and keep the air fresh and circulated with fans/air conditioning/Heppa air purifier.
